Aanvullende informatie
English (vertaal deze tekst in Nederlands): The wreck is under Croatian protection and can only be dived by a diving base with permission. It is an interesting dive.
The german "TORPEDO-SCHNELLBOOT S-57" was build 1940 at the Lürssen-Vegeack Shipyard, Germany. She was 30m long and 3,5m wide.
In the early morning of the 19th ausgust 1944 she was going in a convoy of 5 german Schnellboote, when they were suddenly ambushed by 3 british MTBs (motor torpedo boats). Only S-57 was hit and caught fire. The Germans tried to beach the ship on the island of Peljesac, but failed, so they sank her using explosives.
Today the wreck is lying on sandy ground with it´s bow heading to the beach. Due to the structure of this class of ship the corrosion is advanced. You can still find a 20mm flak on deck and the torpedos, now fixed with tension belts to the ship´s structure.
