Southern Lake Malawi - I would recommens to fly to Lilongwe and take a taxi from there to Salima (Kambiri Point) at the lake (costs 100 U$ not more). Red Zebra Lodge is a nice place to stay for a few days. (reservation required - they're always occupied) They have a boat for maybe 15 people and you can rent tanks there but no equipment and also no guides. Dive Lizard Island, Maleri Island and the Mozambique side of the lake with that boat. After a few days you can move on to the south. A company called "Cool runnings" offers a transfer with a small motor boat for 4 people for 190 U$ to Cape McLear. At Cape McLear you can stay cheap at "Fat Monkeys" for lets say 30 U$ p.r. a night. A little more expensive (70 - 150 U$ p.r. a night)but very nice with great food and close to the diveshop: Gecko Lodge. There are also several really expensive luxury lodges around and for 250 U$ a night p.p. you can stay on your private island - Mumbo Island. (Ask at the diveshop.) Theres a very nice PADI diveshop "FROGMAN DIVERS" with an excellent guide called Louis and a very professional instructor called Rob.
